Temporary closures of bridleways for the Twinwood Festival

(OAKLEY: PART OF BRIDLEWAY NO 7 AND CLAPHAM: PART OF BRIDLEWAY NO 27)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2021

Notice is hereby given that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on foot or on horseback or lead a horse or cycle along the length of Oakley: Part of Bridleway No 7 and Clapham: Part of Bridleway No 27 which extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 0269 5492 to OS GR TL 0308 5496

This temporary closure is required to facilitate the Twinwood Festival taking place and the provision of a temporary camp site requiring water pipes and electric cabling.

The closure is expected to take place from Thursday 12th August 2021 to Monday 6th September 2021.

The alternative route forusers while the closure is in operation will be to proceed from OS GR TL 0308 5496 (Map point B) along the length of unaffected BW No 27 for approx 400m to OS GR TL 0341 5518 (Map point C). Proceed north westerly along the track to its junction with Twinwood Road at OS GR TL 0294 5544 (Map point D), continue south along Twinwood Road to its junction with Oakley BW No 7 at OS GR TL 0268 5492 and vice versa.

The proposed Order will come into operation on 12th August 2021 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out on or near to the bridleway have been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport.
