NOTICE OF ELECTION

ELECTION OF PARISH COUNCILLORS

FOR THE PARISH OF OAKLEY

1.     An election is to be held for the following parish within Bedford Borough

2.     The number of Parish Councillors to be elected is 11.

3.     Forms of nomination paper are available from the Returning Officer, Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP, who will at the request of any elector for the said electoral area, prepare for signature a nomination paper.

4.     Completed nomination papersmust be delivered by hand to the Returning Officer, Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP, on any normal working day from the date of this notice, but not later than 4.00pm on Tuesday, 4 April 2023 during office hours. The Electoral Services Office is open from 9.00am – 5.00pm (Monday-Thursday) and 9.00am – 4.30pm (Fridays).

5.     If an election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday 4th May 2023 between the hours of 7am and 10pm.

6.     Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford MK42 9AP by 11.59pm on Monday 17th April 2023 to be effective for this election. Applications can be completed online:www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

7.     New applications to vote by post and requests to cancel or change an existing postal or proxy vote  must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP by 5.00pm on Tuesday 18th April 2023 , if they are to be effective for this election.

8.     New applications to vote by proxy except on the grounds of a medical or work emergency must reach the Electoral Regstration Officer at Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP, by 5.00pm on Tuesday 25th April 2023 if they are to be effective for this election.

9.     Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Tuesday 25th April 2023. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate can be made online:

10.  Applications to vote by proxy on the grounds of a medical or work emergency must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP by 5.00pm on Thursday 4th May 2023 if they are to be effective for this election.
