Review the figures of vehicles breaking the speed limit in Oakley since their activation in October 2016 to date

Following the installation of the speed cameras in the village, Bedford BC has forwarded the information below on prosecutions to date.

October 2016

  • 263 notices of intended prosecution were issued.
  • 236 for vehicles travelling between 37 and 42mph
  • 27 for vehicles travelling between 43 and 49mph and
  • 0 for vehicles travelling over 50mph. 
  • The highest speed recorded was 48mph on Lovell Road.

November 2016

  • 714 notices of intended prosecution were issued.
  • 655 for vehicles travelling between 37 and 42 mph
  • 55 for vehicles travelling between 43 and 49 mph
  • 4 for vehicles travelling over 50mph.

December 2016

  • 532 notices of intended prosecution were issued.
  • 497 for vehicles travelling between 37 and 42 mph
  • 34 for vehicles travelling between 43 and 49 mph
  • 1 for vehicles travelling over 50mph.
  • The highest speed recorded was 52mph on Lovell Road.

January 2017

  • 37 offences recorded
  • 26 for vehicles travelling between 37 and 40 mph
  • 10 for vehicles travelling between 41 and 44 mph
  • 1 for a vehicle travelling over 60mph

February 2017

  • 4 offences recorded - all for speeds below 40mph

March 2017

  • 42 Notices of intended prosecution issued.
  • 36 for speeds up to 42mph
  • 5 for speeds between 43 and 49 mph
  • 1 for speed over 49mph.

April 2017

  • 57 Notices of intended prosecution issued.
  • 53 for speeds up to 42mph
  • 4 for speeds between 43 and 49mph

May 2017

  • 50 Notices of intended prosecution issued.
  • 47 for speeds between 37 & 42 mph
  • 3 for speeds between 43 & 49mph 

June 2017

  • 223 Notices of intended prosecution issued.
  • 206 for speeds between 37 and 42mph 
  • 17 for speeds between 43 & 49mph 

July 2017

  • 13 Notices of intended prosecution were issued
  • The highest recorded speed was 45mph.
