You may have seen in the local press, that the Home office are extending their facilities at Yarlswood.  From next week the Home Office will start to move in up to 200 asylum seeking men.  These men are currently living at various locations around the country and have applied for asylum in the UK.  Their cases have not been determined so they will not be kept in the secure section of Yarlswood.  They will be free to come and go within Covid Lockdown rules, so please do not be surprised if you see them moving about in the village.  They will be expected to follow social distancing from each other, wherever they are.  All meals will be provided on site and there will be on-site entertainment, limited health facilities and a shop to buy snacks.  The men will be housed in portacabin type buildings that have been erected in the area at the bottom of this photo.  We are told that they will be there for a maximum of 3 months.  More information is available in theStakeholder pack (link opens PDF).
