Residents will know that Friday 8th May marks the 75th anniversary of VE day, the milestone when the guns fell silent at the end of World War ll in Europe, though the conflict was still ongoing elsewhere. A two minute silence will be held at 11.00am that morning and Cllr. Paul Phillips and nearby residents will be at the War Memorial and outside their houses to pay their respects whilst observing the social distancing rules. Cllr. Jane Walker will also attend the War Memorial at 3.00pm for the National Toast to the Heroes of WW2 - "To those who gave so much, we thank you." Both events will be live streamed on Facebook if others would like to join in from the safety of their own homes.
